"Let it go, let it go, let it go"

This technique is very powerful for dealing with unwelcome thoughts. Rather than trying to push down the unpleasant thought when it arises, which it's well known "doesn't work", the following instruction is given:

1. Acknowledge, briefly the unpleasant thought.
2. Accept that it's unwelcome and not wanted.
3. Say to yourself, quietly but firmly: "let it go...let it go...let it go"

For best results –“horses for courses” applies. Some might find one tool or technique helpful, others will experiment with another that proves helpful. All are available to try and it’s often about finding “what works” for you.
